International Conference

“ON VIETNAMESE SEMICONDUCTOR HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN”

Following the joint declaration on the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in late 2023, there’s a growing focus on semiconductor chips, with Vietnam singling out the semiconductor industry as one of its nine national products. The expansive market presents a burgeoning opportunity, with an increasing number of major semiconductor chip companies opting to invest or expand their investments in Vietnam amid the trend of relocating production facilities to Asia. Among these companies are Intel, Synopsys, Samsung, Amkor, Qualcomm, Marvell, among others, which are generating a growing demand for skilled professionals within our nation’s semiconductor industry. According to economic analysts, there is an annual requirement for approximately 5,000 to 10,000 proficient engineers to fulfill the demand for new microchip manufacturing. However, the current workforce is only capable of meeting 20% of this demand. So what is the solution to address the demand for human resources in the semiconductor microchip industry?

The International Conference “ON VIETNAMESE SEMICONDUCTOR HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN” aims to offer a thorough insight into the global semiconductor workforce landscape, encompassing both supply and demand aspects. It will also highlight the human resource requirements necessary for attracting investments and fostering the semiconductor sector’s growth within Vietnam. Furthermore, there will be a panel discussion session where participants can engage directly with distinguished speakers including leading experts, business representatives, and regulatory agency representatives within the semiconductor circuit sector. This aims to facilitate the exchange of information and experiences, address queries, and explore career prospects within the semiconductor IC field. The ultimate goal is to foster the sustainable development of human resources in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry, both domestically and globally.

The center serves as a hub for researching and educating in IC and semiconductor design, facilitating technology transfer and international collaboration. It also aims to mobilize resources and foster partnerships with both domestic and international entities to advance research and training endeavors in IC and semiconductor design. Ultimately, this initiative aims to address the demand for skilled human resources and foster the growth of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. The center offers upskilling programs lasting between 3 to 12 months, covering a range of areas including digital chip design, analog chip design, Mixed-Signal, production training, chip packaging, and testing…

ABOUT THE IC Chip DESIGN TRAINING PROGRAM OF PHENIKAA UNIVERSITY

Implementing the Government’s policy, in order to contribute to the training of high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductor chips, in the 2024 – 2025 school year, Phenikaa University announced the enrollment of 02 new training programs in the field Semiconductor circuits include: “Semiconductor circuit design”, “Semiconductor chips and packaging technology”. Students studying these programs will be equipped with core and in-depth basic knowledge of analog circuit design, digital circuits and mixed circuits; Chip packaging and testing practices at the University’s laboratories; Introduced internships at leading chip packaging and testing corporations in Vietnam. The modules on semiconductor chip design are built on the basis of Synopsys’ lecture system, using Synopsys’ modern supercomputer system and chip design software. The modules on packaging and testing semiconductor chips are designed on the basis of reference and comparison with advanced training programs in the world such as those of Arizona State University, Purdue University (USA), Chip Integration Technology Center (Netherlands)…
